AccuWeather, The World’s Preferred Source for Mobile Weather Content, Continues Global Expansion

Audiences worldwide choose AccuWeather for exclusive breaking weather information and updates with Superior Accuracy to improve their lives. AccuWeather reported that nearly two thirds of its growing digital population is based outside of the United States, reflecting its global leadership as the most trusted source for forecasts with Superior Accuracy™. Responding to user demand, AccuWeather has expanded its established international presence, added languages and dialects across platforms, and launched break-through innovations worldwide.

AccuWeather has recently expanded its international presence with multiple new offices and additional resources including India, Korea, Japan, and China, in addition to expansion in the U.S. and Canada. Chief International Strategy Officer Vincent McDonald oversees AccuWeather’s rapid global expansion, building and further strengthening enterprise-wide partnerships in addition to guiding the company’s international resources and presence to serve its growing worldwide audience.

AccuWeather has also signed a historic Joint Venture with the Chinese government’s commercial weather arm to expand the availability of weather information and forecasting operations throughout China. With the new JV, named Huafeng AccuWeather Meteorological Technology (Beijing) Company, Ltd., the company will advance, enhance, share, and distribute weather forecasts with AccuWeather’s Superior Accuracy for China. The Joint Venture is the only company sanctioned under the Meteorological Law of China to distribute a full and detailed set of official weather information and forecasts of the China Meteorological Administration and the unique forecasting techniques and Chinese patents of AccuWeather. This makes AccuWeather the exclusive weather provider in China, providing more locations and unique forecasts never before available for China including MinuteCast® and longer-range forecast technology. Forecasts are focused on distribution for any mobile platform including smart phones, connected cars, wearables, and other emerging platforms. This will provide manufacturers of such devices the only appropriate selection for a weather partner in China and dovetail with AccuWeather solutions for the rest of the world.

AccuWeather recently showcased its digital leadership and innovation at the Consumer Electronics (CES) show with a range of partners displaying AccuWeather’s industry-leading weather integrations across mobile devices, wearables, smart TVs, tablets, connected cars, and more.
