AccuWeather Strengths Profiled in Feature Story by Rubric, Global Translation Partner
AccuWeather provides localized weather forecasts for every location on Earth in more than 100 languages and dialects. More than a billion people rely on AccuWeather’s Superior Accuracy™ every day to help them plan their lives, protect their businesses, and get more from their day.
When it comes to weather, terms vary from country to country: from the relative meaning of the word “hot” to the way temperatures and dates are displayed. Furthermore, different languages display differently on user interfaces, with text occasionally running across dialog boxes or getting cut off by the screen.
To effectively tailor content to an international audience, AccuWeather focused on localizing content, user interfaces and sourcing to fit each market’s needs, working with global language service provider Rubric. With Rubric’s localization expertise and expertise in project management, AccuWeather was able to customize the coding and localization of digital assets, optimizing products – and a digital experience – that allows AccuWeather to “Think Local, Act Local” by country, region, and local area.
AccuWeather’s David Mitchell, Vice President of Digital Media, Emerging Platforms, said, “As the world’s weather leader, we will continue to think global first and build out from there with the help of key strategic partners like Rubric.” Mitchell adds.
AccuWeather is committed to continuing to strengthen its reach around the world through the help of winning partnerships. As the company expands into additional new markets and partnerships, such as with nonprofit Internet.org, Rubric will support AccuWeather’s global mission, personalizing the weather so people can improve their lives.
