Accurately Forecasting Flooding in the Mediterranean
On Tuesday, November 4, a potent storm brought heavy rainfall to portions of northeastern Italy that resulted in flash floods in some areas and stranded motorists on city streets. Portions of northern Italy received more than 7 inches of rain in only 3 hours. The city of Carrara, Italy experienced severe flooding that resulted in extensive property damage and loss of life. Ahead of the storm beginning on November 1, AccuWeather meteorologists accurately warned of the threat for heavy rain and flooding.
